Keep it clean guys.

This is not about Mushroom Cocks

It's mushroom season, anyone here also into it?

Essex here and have a few spots I go to in the area and also suffolk and Norfolk.

it's a secret world of not sharing locations (like dogging) but I'm willing to.

I've always liked the idea of foraging for mushrooms but I don't think I'd trust myself not to accidentally pick something poisonous and make myself ill, or worse

"No I'm not Australian "

Australian beef Wellington is easily identified because it’s served upside down with the poisonous mushrooms are on top of the beef.

Yeah I'd probably end up poisoning myself unless they looked like button or flat mushrooms.

A few years ago i looked at a book on mushrooms, and there were photos of some that were said to be delicious. There were also photos of some that were said to be highly toxic.

As far as i was concerned they appeared to be impossible to distinguish, so i decided to stick with the supermarket ones.

I have tried to photograph mushrooms every autumn but I really struggle with the depth of field, what are your tricks?

Better light - ie a flash and good diffuser - or/and focus stacking. Plenty of information on youtube & photography forums.

Thanks for the reply!

This summer I got myself a OM1 Mk 2 which does automatic focus stacking and will compile for me too, I need to get a chance to hit the woodland near me and experiment, my canon kit is amazing and my Irix macro lens is absolutely incredible, but it is manually focused and stacking hasn’t been an option.

Fingers crossed.

My biggest issues with the manual focus has been the damp and any light reflecting too much, so maybe I need to work on my diffuser action too.

They're quite distinctive in fact, and among the very nastiest toxins.
