What is the worst job you have had.

During the property crash and recession of 1988 i worked for a large building society in there mortgage department. I had on a daily basis to send out repossession orders I had people come in to the branch in tears others very angry. We found house keys posted through our postbox. Not a nice time mortgage rates climbing as high as 17 percent one client had a mortgage rate of 21 percent.

But the real killer that had me awake at night feeling guilty was that my then girlfriend who worked in a bank and I where in the process of buying house. As we worked in banking we got a preferential mortgage rate of 5 percent. We also found that we went from looking at 2 bed starter homes to being able to look at much bigger houses that had been repossessed.

Many sleepless nights of guilt

'The worst job I ever had was with Jayne Mansfield. She was a fantastic bird, you know - big tits, huge bum, and everything like that, but I had the terrible job of retrieving lobsters from her arsehole..'

As a student nurse the worst part of the job was measuring vomit, piss and diarrhoea for the fluid balance charts. Especially when they had c diff.

As a student working on the buttercup line. Sounds like a heritage railway. No a factory assembling in flight meals destined for Manchester airport. Trays on a conveyor whizzing past. My job put the pat of butter into the plastic cup. I was trying to do every one. Until I was told don't worry love if you miss one it will come round again

Researcher for a national firm, involved door to door surveys at listed addresses and targets to achieve on a weekly basis. If it wasn’t for all the walking in every weather it might have been ok.

Civil service was definitely the worst. Brief period labouring on a building site was definitely very good. Fit as fuck, tanned and getting the diet break attention

Try telling people now that my mortgage rate was 17% and they don't believe it

For a period I had £10 to spend each weekend and that was it

Remember it well, but certainly not fondly. I was one of the many who lost their home, then was hounded for 20 years for the shortfall. Never actually totally recovered from it.

I remember mortgage rates higher than that. Luckily, I waited before buying a house, and was earning 15% interest on my current account (Investec). But I was doing the worst job - IT Programming in a shitty office for a shitty company. So I joined the Army. Best move ever.

Working in an old folks care home as handyman, the old folk were great, the problem was the owner and her daughter, pair of nasty cows. Place was like a prison camp. Told them to shove it after 6 days.

I remember 17% mortgage rate. Fortunately I was renting at the time, but I know many people lost their homes to greedy banks.

I don't really have a bad job I've been in agriculture and forestry all my life wouldn't change it for the world. If there is a bad point I suppose it's the very long days during the season and sometimes those 7 day weeks

Social worker. It destroyed every bit of compassion, empathy and feeling in me until I was doing the job as if I was a zombie and people were merely money on a spreadsheet. Took years to find myself again. Only good thing about it was the pension.

Not really worst but definitely the hardest was hop picking in Kent. Any job on the ancient 1920s vintage bine stripping machine was backbreaking (and dangerous, not much health and safety or guards).

We used to alternate 2 hour shifts on various tasks because nobody could go all day at the same one, particularly separating the vines as they went up to the ceiling of the barn on a hanging conveyor; it entailed wielding a scythe head probably weighing 20lb or so at the end of a 15' long pole. Screaming arm and back muscles at each shift end.

The interview I attended and told them to stick their immoral con of a job before even being offered it: selling overpriced burglar alarms to elderlies by masquerading as a "local police survey" warning them of an upsurge in recent break and entries in their area.

Work/Play in London, live in Kent

My oddest was whilst working in a care home I had to measure flaccid penises as if they were less than 2cm long in the shaft they could not accommodate a convene - a condom-like device that connected to a leg bag which collected urine.

But my mate had a job of artificially injecting semen into turkeys. You use a pippette and I believe she technique was to put your lips together and blow

As a student I had a very mundane office job in the holidays in the town hall. The office was very near the clock tower and you could hear the clock strike every quarter of an hour. It was mind numbing boring and I didn't have enough work to do really. The clock would strike and my heart would sink that it was only 10.45 and I had another 7 hours! Gave a clear idea of what I didn't want to do for a permanent job, so of those peeps had been there 35 years!

Having left school with no education I've had some extremely mind numbing jobs.

Security guard, managed 2 weeks

Mail sorting, got sacked for talking too much

Trolley collector, actually slightly better than it sounds

My current job is my least favourite, I'm a support worker, long hours, shocking pay, lots of responsibility no appreciation

Working in a fish factory, I hated the smell and touch of lemon sole, had a few laughs in the production line. Can remember chasing rats with a spade.

60 hour week for £100, thankfully it was just for a few months in-between my main career jobs.
