Going to be loooooooooooong queues, or going by the last time I went, even longer queues. I am going to say it’s another random muttering with nothing in place (federal employees?) to back it up.

Facebook alone has over 3 billion active monthly users though and people tend to self report their views and activities that they wouldnt offer up in an interview

Why would any country want to permit entry to somebody who isn't even capable of presenting themselves as vaguely sane and reasonable on social media?

Don't like it? Don't travel to the US. Working as intended; see.

Bit short sighted if it stops people wanting to work their.

Trump doesn't sound vaguely sane or reasonable on his own social media (truth social).

A lot of what you're hearing about the Americans is nonsense. I've been going there regularly for about 4 years (nine times this year). Most Americans are great. The British media have certainly done a good job on many on here. Starmer is our main problem and he is certainly more Marxist than most.

There's more "blob people" in the UK now. We are definitely catching up with the Americans. As far as "whining women" are concerned. The UK is a misogynistic nightmare. There's a lot of women in the UK who definitely have a lot to whine about!

Offshore now, ignore pistcode

I’m due there next month on business. Mostly arriving in LAX and it can take up to two hours for them to do a cursory ‘why are you here ‘ check. Many Americans I deal with are decent, polite and humorous, but are probably not Trump-voters, either. And most of my contacts have had their businesses hammered by Trump policies.

The sad point is the total obsequiousness of corporate America to the destruction of their reputation - this will take decades to rebuild

Technically they probably have access to it all already.

I remember someone saying Google and Facebook know you better than your partner does... And the US government will have access to all their data.

They will have everyone linked like a global 6 degrees removed game and will have risk assessments on all of us.

The declaration of all social media when applying for a visa is just a formal way to make us self identifying as that user id.

It's all very 1984 but if you think the British government isn't doing exactly the same behind the scenes then you need to wake up to the reality of having a digital footprint.

I'm sure you are a really nice person. But you're definitely over exagerating what is currently happening in the USA. I also dislike Trump. I would probably have more cause to than you. But if you really are comparing Trump and his people to Hitler and the brown shirts you are way off. As a Shoah teacher I can guarantee you there is no comparison. The World at War is an excellent documentary series. But it only touches on things that happened in Germany in the 1930s and WW2. There are no Einsatsgroupen in the USA. You don't need to exaggerate. Its disrespectful to the millions who suffered at the hands of the Nazis. People don't realise how bad it truly was. Go to Auschwitz Birkenau, Treblinka, Mauthausen, Buchenwald, Chelmno, Sobibor,Belsen, etc... There was so much more than the World at War documentary told. I understand that you are angry about Trump but exaggeration is not needed. It just weakens your argument.Trump has the possibility of being more like Mussolini in some ways. Now don't get angry. I'm sure you are truly better than that.

The best way to protect their country is to ban machine guns in the hands of people , instead of focusing on who criticise Trump on Facebook. In the USA, there are thousands of illegals coming in from Mexico, and they have no idea who they are. How long do we have to listen to this rubber boat language created by Reform UK?

American nationals are far more of a threat to Americans than anyone landing on a plane. Trump's rhetoric is isolationist and xenophobic. It says more about Americans than the people arriving on planes. I have a few non-Trump supporting American friends. They are despairing what's happening in the States, and understandably feel less safe, not more safe.

Sounds like you’ve spent so much time in the States this year you’re basically accruing honorary citizenship—just waiting for your complimentary bald eagle and barbecue apron.

As for the British media… well, they could make a sunny beach holiday sound like an unfolding crisis. And Starmer being “more Marxist than most” is a bit like saying a cup of tea is “more dangerous than most”—technically possible, but only if you’re stirring it with a live wire.

I won't waste my time commenting on your other spurious observations!!

"Has the op ever been to USA or was planning to go?"

As the OP I can confirm that I have been to the USA several times. In fact I was married there in 1992! And the reason for your question is?

"With “the Donald” in charge I have zero inclination to want to visit the USA.. this really just sealed the deal for me. If you want to run a dictatorship and stop people who might be anti the US government from even visiting.. you can sling your hook! Enjoy cutting off the rest of the world.. sorry but the man is a twat of the highest order imho

This.

All of this"

Totally agree. No point going over there anymore. Loved it in the past though.

So this means your happy for this country to go to hell like it’s goings. "

Hes also blowing up boats at sea, they may well be drug runners but that doesn't give him free license to kill everyone on board and then kill the people that have been shipwrecked.

Now even boarding an oil tanker and claiming it, isn't that piracy? Which is what he has called the somalians.

"When I visited America with my wife the border force guys I interacted with were rude arseholes"

Pro tip: if you fly via Dublin you can pre-clear with US border security at Dublin airport and just walk off the plane when you arrive as if it's a domestic flight. The guys at Dublin are a lot more polite and friendly than the absolute bellend, aggressive, jobsworth arseholes you'll deal with if flying direct and clearing in the US.

I once had to queue for ages at Dulles and then when I got to the booth had to wait half an hour while the enforcement wanker sprayed down every square mm of his workspace after a shift change before we even got to the curt and obnoxious twenty questions.

Will be going next summer as my wife's family are all over there and wow am I looking forward to it

Plus you get to drink Guinness and Jamesons on the couple of hour layover. Dublin has a nice lounge for watching the big birds.

I think you can do it from Shannon as well BA used to have a flight from London City Airport using an Airbus A319 in all Business Class configuration to New York via Shannon and passengers cleared US customs at Shannon.

If you want to experience people who *really* hate their job and customers, Homeland Security is the place to go!

And do not wind them up under any circumstances. They have zero sense of any humour, still less a British one. I'm pretty sure they live for the moment they can call security and get someone dragged off and interrogated/strip searched/deported.

Thank goodness our liberal government/s, the UK police force take a softly-softly, hands-off approach when it comes to monitoring our online digital footprints ... It would be awful if they took an authoritarian stance and hounded people for saying, in their esteemed opinion, the wrong things online.

Ohhhh .... Hang on ...

'Reports from 2025 indicate UK police made around 12,000 arrests last year (about 30+ daily) under laws like the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and Communications Act 2003 for "grossly offensive" or menacing online posts, a nearly 58% increase from pre-pandemic levels'

Errrrrm .... That kind of sounds worse than being made to answer pesky questions and give out personal social-media info when entering the U.S without a visa ... Hmmmn

Well that gives us a clear indication of your level of intelligence. You would be very happy to vote for a proven fraudster, sexual deviant, constant lier, draft dodger and six times declared bankrupt who has demonstrated a total disrespect for democracy. This turd is also controlled by Putin but that is obviously of no interest to you and who knows what the Epstein files will also implicate him in, not forgetting his very close friendship with the worst phedofile ever exposed. "Thank goodness our liberal government/s, the UK police force take a softly-softly, hands-off approach when it comes to monitoring our online digital footprints ...

Hmmmn

but, but... this doesnt fit our agenda

Yes .... Best to turn a blind eye to our own mission creep of authoritarianism ... and just blow raspberries at that mean President over there in America who keeps doing things he promised the voters that he'd do if they elected him again.

Ohh yes, didn’t he promise to end the Ukrainian war on his first day in office lol. I don’t recall any promise to bring Putin to the USA and let down the red carpet for another rat. Any fool can see that Trump you is clearly under Putins control and we would all like to know what Putin has over this turd, it must be huge."

Is it true that trumps envoy to russia just used Google translate to copy the russian version of their so called peace plan?

Its absolutely bizarre that Trump believes who ever spoke to him last.

He's such a childman.

News here this morning is that there me be an expectation that Australians(and I assume other nations too) will have to submit DNA samples for entry to the US.

I have shared my DNA with a lot of guys, I’m not lining up at the US consulate to give them a sample

Take care of what?

You assume too much .... and are very quick to judge.

The example you just gave, of your local Trump champion, is someone that you yourself mix with .... and what of it? That isn't a negative, is it.

The people I am mixing with ... Include yourself, and everyone else who engages in the subject on here and elsewhere ... whether we happen to agree or not.

I'm not on any team .... and if there was a thread that overwhelmingly extolled the virtues of Prez T ... then I would point out some inconvenient truths that challenged that particular narrative.

However ... Whenever Trump is mentioned here, it's the same old rinse-and-repeat narratives ... saying nothing new, very loudly. Tedious preachings from the self-proclaimed ... virtuously unblemished.

Things are not entirely Black or White .... So try and see the shades in between.

I fully agree with you that it was a minority of Americans but it was a majority of those who voted, that’s all dancing on the head of a pin. I'm afraid you’re wrong: he did not win a majority of the vote. Incidentally, Barack Obama did in both 2008 and 2016. Joe Biden did in 2020. Donold tRump, however, failed to do so in 2024!! The con man's margin of victory was a tiny 1.6 percentage points, smaller than that of every winning president since 1888 other than two: Kennedy in 1960 and Nixon in 1968.

I am of course happy to accept your statistics but it changes nothing, this criminal was elected by the Americans and they are responsible. The cost to be born the American tax payer will be enormous but that’s their problem and if this clown bankrupts America, they deserve whatever they get.

I personally will not buy anything that comes from the USA nor will I use McDonalds or any company associated with the US.

Boycotting Morrisons and Asda are you shirty?

That'll bring America to its knees

Using Google at all?

Got an Amazon account?

Both American .... So you had better add them to your list of things to turn your nose up at.

(No Heinz or Kellogg's products either ... they'll be right out!)

You haven't really thought it through, have you shirty

Where are you getting this silly crap from. I never even mentioned bringing America to its knees nor do I have accounts with any of the companies you are insinuating that I might have, and no Heinz nor Kellogg products in my house either and Morrisons don’t exist in NI. I suggest that you take more care before putting words into someone else’s mouth.

Ahhhhh come now shirty .... You are an avid Googler, and no stranger to the Amazon delivery van.

Own it man .... You are as tainted with the complicit patrionage of American enterprises as the rest of us.

To haghtily claim otherwise is either gross naivety or blind hypocrisy.

Enjoy your Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Cornflakes this morning ... Unless you're having Pop-Tarts instead?

Now you are calling me a liar without offering one iota of evidence to support your accusation, no surprise in that behaviour from you. Now if you want to read lies then spend your time reading the garbage that you’re hero spouts constantly which everyone knows is wall to wall lies."

Now Shirty .... When have I called you a liar?

To claim that I have ... is quite distantly removed from the actuality.

But you are entitled to say whatever you like as far as I'm concerned ...So speak freely, without fear of causing any offence whatsoever.

Big Mac & fries for lunch was it?

Hearing trumps latest remarks about Britain and the eu, its clear that he gets more deluded by the day and just wants to be a dictator and want regime change in Europe.

He truly is a vile thick humpty.

"Why would any country want to permit entry to somebody who isn't even capable of presenting themselves as vaguely sane and reasonable on social media?

Don't like it? Don't travel to the US. Working as intended; see."

The president of the USA is himself insane and unreasonable, so what is your point?

Do you understand what Trump's intentions are here?

He wants border control to stop people from entering the USA if they have ever expressed a negative opinion about him on social media.

Tourists have already been turned away for making negative comments online about that orange turd.

And you applaude that behaviour when it is in fact the sign of a dictatorship?

You should go and live in the USA.

Then we could say this is "working as intended"!
