Does anyone else really not like Xmas?

The commercialism, the religious nonsense, the enforced faking being happy, the drinking, the loneliness, the memories, the climate, the debt, having to put with/cut off family you can't get on with... does anyone else get really down this time of year?

If you need to let something out & have nowhere else... I hope this thread helps.

Wake up about 7am

Fresh knickers

New dress

Watch porn

Perhaps go out

Say hi and Christmas to a few

Send/read some messages

Eat

Drink

Toilet

Watch porn

Getting darker outside

Go to bed

Hand inside knickers

Cum thinking about cock

Realise it's 7pm

Eat some chocolate

Have a few drinks

Sleep

Omg was that it for 12 hours.

Seeing people I haven’t seen in a while. Who have known me for decades.

Lots of laughter, good food. Everyone bringing something for the meal and all helping with prep. Sharing memories. Raising a glass to those we’ve lost. Sharing stories and laughing until we cry.

No presents. A walk with the dogs.

Everyone helping to clear up. Blankets on the sofa and hot chocolate. The Muppets Christmas Carol. Left overs for breakfast on Boxing Day.

Then traveling home.

I’ll miss my husband a lot on Christmas Day but I’ll be surrounded by people who loved him too. No debt and no pressure.

I detest the modern-day commercialism and overhype, but cherish the opportunity to reflect on the spiritual essence of this special time, and partake moderately in the time-honoured traditions.

Given the choice, I'd follow the wisdom of creatures wiser than us and hibernate between mid-October and mid-to-late March. I must confess, I breathe a sigh of relief as we reach Twelfth Night and Epiphany, when the crazy season draws to a close.

Best Wishes to All.....it will soon all be over for yet another year!

Almost surprised anyone mentioned religion regarding Christmas. No longer seem to be a religious festival. Yes we hear a few hymns and see a few nativity scenes but otherise it seems to be about commercialism and gluttony. Don't think Christmas trees are religious unless they stem from some Nordic/Germanic pagan religion. Same with so many people--shop workers in particular--Wearing santa hats or reindeer antlers. Never managed to find a reference to either reindeers or red furry hats in the Bible

Growing up Christmas was always a very short lived thing. It's my dad's birthday on the 16th December, so that is when the tree would go up, never earlier as didn't want Christmas to over shadow his birthday. It's my sisters birthday on 26th, so that was her day and Christmas was over. Mum would often take down the Xmas decorations late Christmas day or early morning on boxing day. We all had our own birthdays during the year so why shouldn't they?

We have family across the other side of the country with grown up neices who have thier own kids who we see a few times a year. Buying and sending presents can be a nightmare so early December money is sent to the adults so the kids can have a present from santa. So no Christmas shopping needed.

My parents live about half hour away from us, but we saw them last week for my dad's birthday, then on the 30th it's thier wedding anniversary so we are out for a meal ( our treat) to celebrate, so won't see them on Xmas day.

No tree here, just Xmas cards on the mantlepiece and we dont do presents for each other, we dont want or need anything and dont want to buy a token gift just for it to sit on a shelf or go in a drawer. We have two cruises booked for next year so we say they are our presents.

Also on the 21st Dec it's our anniversary too.

So nice meal on Christmas day, in front of the telly watching the usual crap lol

I like the Pre-Christian Winter Solstice elements/symbolisms (It all has its roots in Northern European Pagan traditions)

I even like quite a lot of the Christian elements ... and Dickensian/Victorian/Germanic additions.

It's just way too overblown and obviously over-commercialised these days ... and seems to be stretched out over the whole of December.

Every autumn, I tell myself (and anyone else who asks) that I'm reining it back this year .... and every year I can't help myself from following the herd.

I did one 'Xmas day' last friday with someone special who I can't be with on the 25th .... and will be ringing the bells from Boxing day onwards with the now adult fruit of my loins.

Wouldn't say that I hate it. Suppose all the tinsel and tat and fairy lights do brighten up the darkest month of the year.

Always been a bit indifferent towards it. Didn't enjoy it much as a youngster. From 8 to 18 living on my stepfather's remote farm. Missed all my friends during the school holidays and we didn't do much in the way of celebrating. Worked nearly every Christmas until I retired. Hate people asking 'What are you doing for Christmas' or saying 'But you mustn't be alone at Christmas'. I'm quite happy to be. Just prepared the veg for tomorrow and will make the most of it.

Even in pre-Christian times, these short dark, cold days of winter were a time of celebration. The Romans had Saturnalia, a festival of light, and pagans celebrated with feasting, eating, drinking, and much merriment often including of course the many delightful joys of the flesh! Christ's birth is historically said to have occurred in spring, but the church moved it to mid-winter to bring order to the festivities.

If it wasn't for the seasonal celebrations, decorations, decorated trees with their fairy lights and the joyous merriment, these cold, short, dark days would be an even tougher time of year for many, so eat, drink, be merry as we ding our dongs merrily on both high and low!..and then look forwards to the warmer, longer and brighter days that the new year will hopefully have in store for us all! 🌅

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I don't get on with some of my family, so refuse to go to my mums to make sure she has a good Christmas without the stress of family falling outs. I don't tell my friends I spend it alone as don't want them thinking I have to spend it with them.

I honestly don't mind spending it alone.

One of the big problems I find is the media put a lot of pressure and negativity on people spending it alone with thier adverts etc. They always say you don't have to spend Christmas alone, and always this negativity.

Used to detest Christmas. When I was a kid with an alcoholic dad and a mum not much better. It was not my favourite time of the year.

When I was first married I wouldn’t even allow drink in the house on Christmas day.

My dad dried out and we ended up with a better relationship

Quite like Christmas now. The kids had flown the coup. That said they are all turning up for New Year.

This year just the wife and I for dinner. A bit of glam and sparkle an odd glass of wine or two. We just found out a friend is over from the Costa del Sol. So we’re meeting him tomorrow night at a local pub.

Christmas 2025 is looking good in our new house

Why be so negative about it. I'm not religious but remember it was a Pagan winter festival long before religion "borrowed" it. Just enjoy the season

An interesting perspective, although hate can be a heavy burden and is pointless, often just causing more self-destruction and is totally futile.

Many people view the Nativity as a significant historical event rooted in faith. While details may have evolved over time, the story's core is based on accounts from that era. It's also worth noting that schools often present Nativity plays as a cultural and historical tradition, allowing children to engage with diverse stories and perspectives.

Perhaps treat the festive season with a more positive air as a celebration of our endurance on this unfathomable journey as we approach another milestone?
